Weekly Project Post — Week 6

Hello to everyone!

*   What did you do last week?

This week I took a deep dive into my old N-Units Away college math paper. I've been studying that particular math conundrum since childhood actually! The whole discussion of how and why curves in 2D have that special weird property was something I legit found when drawing with crayons as a kid. I studied it further in high school, once I had some calculus under my belt. And even got so far as to convert the problem into the correct parametric equations to graph the phenomenon! ... But as for rigorously trying to analyze and solve WHY curves in space behave like that, I had to wait until deep into college when I'd taken enough Real Analysis and Multivariable Calc to wrestle with such a difficult problem.

Part 1 of what I did this week was simply refresh my neurons with the whole paper / the proofs. Dip my feet back into the water, so to speak.

Part 2 is I'm beginning to write a whole new draft of the paper in Latex. It'll look much more professional this time around when I'm done.

*   What do you plan to do this week?

I'll either continue the work on N-Units Away (and at least add it to the website, so you can see the current unpolished draft) ... Or, if I get inspired and want to code some, I'll work more on the Rapidly Exploring Random Trees code and get it so the user can place the start and end wherever they'd like by clicking! Super exciting.

*   Are there any impediments in your way?

Yes, frankly. I'm in another class this summer that is a mind-boggling amount of work. It's somewhere between 50 and 80 hours of work a week, and I'm completely falling apart. I hardly have time to sleep or eat food even, so until that course is done, progress in this class will be quite slow. It ends July 10th, however, which will give me lots of time to work on this class's material. Wish me luck!
