Weekly Project Post — Week 4
Hi there!
Big exciting week in Orionland working on this project. The primary thing I did this week was get an early draft of my entire website done! Feel free to check it out. It’s live at orionhaunstrup.com. There was extensive progress on The NFL Project portion of the website, but some of that is part of another class, so I don’t think it’s fair to fully count all that work towards this class. For this course, the big progress is I finally have a draft of my professional portfolio website!
Going into next week, the next step is to either flesh out the various sub-pages (The Random Trees project page, The Collatz Research one, The N-Units Away Curves one…) or perhaps to choose one and really fix it up. I’m specifically enjoying working on whichever “feels” like I’d like to do it next, giving myself a little creative freedom each week, rather than assigning a next task in some perhaps rather arbitrary order. The fixes the different sub-pages need are so different. It’s fun getting to pick which one to work on next.
The fixes are: • N-Units Away curve paper —— I managed to find my old paper in my previous school gmail. It’s currently in 4 parts, separate pdfs. Most (?) of that is very good quality, but one specific section is hand-written and should be converted to Latex. In the real world, probably all of it needs to be re-written in Latex. I might also spruce up and redo one specific proof that I’m not quite thrilled with. • Collatz Research Website —— This one is the most complete! I just mostly need to freshen up the home page and work on making it cell phone viewable • Random Trees —— Main next thing to do here is to make it accessable on my new portfolio website via a GitHub link… and then debug that one annoying error that occurs about 10% of the time you run it.
There are no impediments in the way, thankfully.
The process I’ve been using, of logging in little bits of work on this as a hobby, is going well so far. We’ll see if I’m able to stay on-pace or if I’ll either log in too much or too little work. Probably too much knowing me, haha.
